Looking Bad Is Not An Option

last week i went to a job interview. actually a went to several interviews, last week, but this one was really important. i really want this job and have a nice chance to get it.

the evening before the interview i couldn't decide what to wear. the job is at a big international company and i couldn't chose something to crazy, fancy or colorful. eventually i decided on a dark skinny jeans with silk grey blouse and a long, stripy, black and white cardigan. i also decided on a minimal amount of accessories - the usual pearl earrings and necklace. as for the shoes i went for black heels. classy. but a bit to boring for my taste. so i changed into my new irregular choice heels. crazy. but much more me.

when i sat at the reception, waiting to the interview, 2 ladies came in. they sat next to me and began talking about the presentation that they prepared for the meeting. a few minutes later a woman came in and called them in, so the women followed her. but then the older lady turned back an said to me: "i love your shoes. where did you get them? i would love to buy a pair for my daughter". i thanked her and told her the name of the store.

needless to say, that a compliment, from a complete stranger at 8:54 in the morning (in my world morning can last until 12:00 at noon), is a great booster. my confidence increased. my eyes were shining and i had a big smile on my face. the interview went great and now i'm waiting for their answer. i really hope it's a yes.

so what is the lesson of this story? always look good and feel good about your look. add your touch to everything you do and be true to yourself. if you cant wear your favorite clothes for work use small accessories, to lighten up you day. wear funny underwear or socks. change hair styles. anything that work for you. find it and do it. as you feel better about yourself, everything in your life will improve. your mood will get better and you will become more approachable and likeable. your work will improve. your loved ones will become happier and good things will happen.

and this is why, looking bad is not an option!

my new lucky shoes :)
